Tim didn’t like cross country, he tried to get out of it each year.

This year Tim asked to go to the toilet but the teacher knew what he was up to so he came back in time for the run.

Instead of running the full distance, he cheated to come in the top 3.

This week in reading I did this based on the story "Past or Present" from a school journal

Describe something nasty or nice that a character did and explain why they did it

Api doesn't want anything to do with the new kid, Matthew. He doesn't want him to be on his soccer team, he doesn't want to hear his jokes, he doesn’t want his gifts!

He did this because he didn’t want to draw attention to himself. He didn’t want Jason, the main bully, to bully him as well. Matthew just wanted someone to hang out with.

Describe what you think the climax of the story is. Why do you think this is the climax?

The climax of the story is when Miss Honey adopts Matilda. This for me is the climax because it makes the reader really happy to see Matilda go to a loving family.
